Special Feature:
Five-Figure Bicycles
You'll need a Wall Street Journal subscription to get behind the paywall, but really, the title of this article says it all: Rise of the Five-Figure Bicycle. The first person profiled in the story dipped into his 401(k) to buy a bike worth more than his car.

What high end bikes are pedaling around your neighborhood in need of insurance?

You'll never know unless you follow the lead of BIM agent Karen Knowles of Gallaher Insurance Group. Karen went around to multiple local bike shops distributing our customizable flyer and mailing others in a wider geographical area. Shortly thereafter one of the bike shops referred a potential client her way. He was part of a hard-core cycling team that participates in events around the country. While not a professional his bike is worth several thousand dollars. These kinds of owners know quality and want to protect it.

Karen made quick work of the simple application and her complete submission helped underwriter Jason to return a quote in a quick manner. She had a quote the same day and got the policy within an hour. According to Karen the level of service was "100%. Wonderful. Smooth and easy. He did an outstanding job." Jason explained how the program was originally developed for a direct market and how bicycle insurance in Europe includes liability (as does ours). He gave her three quotes which was nice as she was able to offer the insured a range of options.

Don't let sales cycle away! Log into BIM, learn about our bicycle market today.

International Services for Employees and Students
Many companies mistakenly assume that their comprehensive domestic insurance coverage can handle worldwide exposures. If lawsuits are brought within U.S. borders, they may be correct. But what happens when legal action is initiated from outside the U.S., or losses that are covered on U.S. soil are excluded by the insurance policies of another country? The compulsory insurance requirements of other countries may not be as encompassing as those required in the U.S. The need for comprehensive insurance coverage to reduce the risks associated with conducting business outside the U.S. borders is clear. Yet many companies and not-for-profit organizations leave themselves open to significant risk. Who assumes the risk in the event of bodily injury, illness or death of employees traveling or living outside the U.S.? Do domestic coverage's extend to providing emergency medical evacuation, or borders? The product is designed for U.S.-based companies, non-profit organizations and educational institutions that have employees or volunteer workers who travel, work or sell products overseas. These are just a few of the questions that companies need to consider when developing a presence in other countries.

Take a closer look at ACE Educators International Advantage® Edge. There are nearly 5,000 degree granting institutions in the United States with over 300,000 students studying abroad each year. That number increases drastically when you include the over 30,000 secondary schools with students traveling overseas.* ACE understands the risks associated with global travel and has designed an exclusive foreign package policy that is comprised of comprehensive coverage enhancements specifically tailored to educators. Our experienced underwriters, presence in over 50 countries, and our knowledge of local jurisdictions, make ACE the ideal partner to provide risk management solutions for your educational clients.

New Webinars
Lenders Gone Wild
October 17
2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. ET
Registration Link: https://www1.gotomeeting.com/register/405079977

You've heard of "Girls Gone Wild" and "Spring Break Gone Wild." Perhaps the requests and demands made by lenders today relating to insurance issues are fodder for a new borderline obscene series titled, "Lenders Gone Wild." The cast of characters would include guaranteed replacement cost, agreed value, ordinance and law, severability of insurance, replacement cost estimators, lender specific forms, declarations pages, certificates of insurance, Fannie Mae, and many more.

Join David Thompson, CPCU, the Florida Big I's "high sheriff" of lender issues and his trusty sidekick Deputy Bill Wilson, CPCU, as they navigate the landscape to explain why these requests and demands are being made, what you should do, and what you should not do. We will examine the source of many of these demands, Fannie Mae guidelines, problems with some of the demands (including the fact that many ask an insurance to commit an illegal act), and suggestions for dealing with these requests and demands.

This webinar is brought to you by Big "I" Virtual University. Click through for information on tuition and CE.
