NEW ORLEANS, Sept. 24 - W. Cloyce Anders was inaugurated as the new president of the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America (IIABA) and Bob Fulwider was elected to the association’s Executive Committee today at the New Orleans InfoXchange.
Anders, president of VFIS of North Carolina in Raleigh; C.H. Stith, Inc. in New Bern, N.C.; and Bayboro, N.C.-based Pamlico Insurance Services, becomes IIABA’s 98th president. Outgoing president Thomas B. Ahart (CPCU, AAI), president of Ahart, Frinzi & Smith in Phillipsburg, N.J., remains on the Executive Committee as immediate past president.
Fulwider previously served as chairman of IIABA’s Government Affairs Committee, a position he had held since September 2000. He is principal and executive vice president of the Ray Wuestenberg Agency, Inc., of West Liberty, Iowa, and principal and executive vice president of the Fulwider Agency, Inc., of West Branch, Iowa. He also is president of Bob Fulwider and Associates, a life and health financial planning agency in Eastern Iowa.
Assuming their new posts of president-elect and vice president, respectively, today were Louise “Bebe” Canter, senior vice president of Patterson/Smith Associates in Falls Church, Va., and Thomas A. Grau, a sales executive with Payne Financial Group in Billings, Mont. IIABA’s National Board of State Directors confirmed Canter and Grau to the positions at its mid-year meeting in April 2002. Canter will become the association’s first female president when she is inaugurated at the 2003 InfoXchange in Las Vegas.
