ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 1, 2011 —The Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America (IIABA or the Big “I”) was informed today by the Insurance Agents & Brokers of Pennsylvania (IA&B of PA) and the Delaware Association of Insurance Agents & Brokers (DAIAB) that they would have just one national association effective Jan. 1, 2012. The following is a statement from IIABA Chairman Mike Donohoe:
“IIABA looks forward to continuing our partnership with the IA&B of PA and the DAIAB, and to continue working with those states to deliver the highest quality services and advocacy for independent insurance agents & brokers. IIABA has always advocated having one national association for independent agents and brokers, and we continue to seek discussions with the National Association of Professional Insurance Agents to further this goal.”
Founded in 1896, the Big “I” is the nation’s oldest and largest national association of independent insurance agents and brokers, representing a network of more than 300,000 agents, brokers and their employees nationally. Its members are businesses that offer customers a choice of policies from a variety of insurance companies. Independent agents and brokers offer all lines of insurance—property, casualty, life, health, employee benefit plans and retirement products. Web address: www.independentagent.com.
