LOUISVILLE’S WILLIAM G. STIGLITZ IS PRESIDENT-ELECT OF NATIONAL ASSOCIATION
Area Independent Insurance Agent Assumes Office at National Convention
ORLANDO, Oct. 11—Louisville resident and independent insurance agent William G. Stiglitz was inaugurated the 100th president-elect of the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America (IIABA) during the organization’s annual convention here.
Stiglitz is an account executive with Hyland, Block & Hyland, Inc., in Louisville. He was elected to the IIABA Executive Committee in October 2000.
As IIABA president-elect, Stiglitz will concentrate his efforts on providing lobbying and legislative aid to states, while continuing to push for the education of agents on technological advancements. Stiglitz is now next-in-line to become president of the industry’s largest independent insurance agent and insurance broker trade association. He will be sworn in as president during the 2005 IIABA Convention in New York City next September.
Stiglitz has been active on many levels of IIABA member organizations during his 34-year career as an independent insurance agent. A past president and state national director for the Independent Insurance Agents of Kentucky (IIAK), Stiglitz also is a past president of the Louisville Board of Independent Insurance Agents.
Stiglitz graduated from Centre College in Danville, Ky., and served in the U.S. Army. He entered the insurance business in 1970 when he joined his uncle at the Miller & Scholtz Agency. Miller & Scholtz merged with Hyland, Block & Hyland, Inc. in 1992.
Stiglitz and his wife, Pat, have two adult children. The couple resides in Louisville.
