WASHINGTON, D.C., May 30, 2017—The Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America (IIABA or the Big “I”) released the following statement regarding Sen. Jim Bunning (R-Kentucky) from Robert Rusbuldt, Big “I” president & CEO:
“Sen. Jim Bunning is a well-known legend in both baseball and politics, and to the Big ‘I’.
“The Big ‘I’ will long remember Sen. Bunning for his strong support of independent insurance agents during his service in the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives. He was a bulldog for independent insurance agents. Sen. Bunning personally held up key pieces of legislation in the Senate until agent concerns were addressed, introduced bills in support of the industry and small businesses, and for his tremendous efforts and leadership was the Big ‘I’ 2003 Gerald Solomon Legislator of the Year Award.
“Sen. Bunning was devoted to his family and his friends. He was committed to his beliefs and he was tenacious. We will miss Jim, but his legacy is deep in our country and with the Big ‘I’.
“Our hearts are with Sen. Bunning’s wife Mary, his entire family and his beloved home state of Kentucky.”
