ALEXANDRIA, Virginia, Oct. 19, 2016 —The National Young Agents Committee (YAC) of the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America (IIABA or the Big “I”) presented the Outstanding Young Agent of the Year award to Kelly Hume of the Young Agents Council of the Michigan Association of Insurance Agents (MAIA). Hume is an independent insurance agent at Tawas Bay Insurance Agency in East Tawas, Michigan.
“We are honored to recognize Kelly Hume for her dedication to the young agent program and the independent agency community,” says Joe Hamilton, national Young Agents Committee chairman and independent insurance agent at Hal Rakowski Insurance Agency agent in Lakeside, California. “Kelly’s dedication and enthusiasm for the insurance industry started with an internship. She continues to teach high school and college students about the many exciting opportunities in the industry. Kelly is a dedicated powerhouse on behalf of the industry through her volunteer work with the InVEST program and on the MAIA Young Agents Council.”
Hume’s career in the insurance industry started when she was an intern at Mid Valley Insurance in Saginaw, Michigan. She joined the Duclos Insurance Agency team in 2004 and continued to climb through the ranks. Recently, she joined the Tawas Bay Insurance Agency. She also serves on the MAIA Young Agents Council and is responsible for much of the social media outreach. Hume earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration at Saginaw Valley State University in Saginaw, Michigan.
Hume and her fellow her Michigan young agents were also presented with the 2016 Outstanding Big “I” Young Agents Committee Award at the recent Big “I” Fall Leadership Conference in Chicago.
