ACT's 2016 AUS Technology Summary
The 2016 Agency Universe Study—also known as the "AUS"—was recently released as a collaboration between the Big "I" and leading independent agencies. This biennial study was completed by 1,972 independent agents giving their detailed insights on all critical areas of running their businesses, including agency revenue and markets, carriers represented, customer service centers, agency staff, future planning, marketing information sources, and technology.
As a service to ACT members, we have summarized the "technology" section of the 2016 Agency Universe Study, providing you with insights on tech challenges, the use of comparative raters, management systems and other aspects. Here are a few highlights:
The number of small agencies increased to 21% of the channel, but small towns and rural areas saw a decrease.Jumbo agencies' revenue doubled.More than half of agencies say social media is part of their marketing program.Less than a tenth of agencies use digital content or online videos in marketing.Effective marketing is agencies' top challenge.The use of comparative raters is declining.
