IIABNY, ACT Workshop to Focus on Business Improvement

IIABNY, ACT WORKSHOP TO FOCUS ON BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT

Convention workshop to focus on new practices enhancing profits, efficiency

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 4, 2005—The Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of New York (IIABNY) and the Agents Council for Technology (ACT) today announce their co-hosted Business Improvement Workshop, taking place Sunday, Sept. 11, at the Big “I” Convention.

Thousands of independent insurance agents, brokers and other insurance professionals are expected to attend the Association’s premier event, which will be held Sept. 10-12 at the Hilton New York & Towers in New York City.

Technology is moving beyond the traditional service functions to respond to the multi-faceted needs of producers and principals to put new business on the books. The first part of the IIABNY & ACT co-hosted workshop is Enhancing Your Agency’s Sales & Marketing Effectiveness. In this workshop, business leaders will learn how agencies are using specific business processes and technology tools to enhance the sales, marketing and management functions in their agencies.

In the second part of this workshop, Five Steps to a Better Agency Bottom-Line, agents, carriers, and vendors will discuss how to implement new business processes and technologies to enhance profits. This panel will focus on the benefits of the latest real-time interfaces, improved downloads, paperless strategies, and more, to drive agency efficiencies and enable more productive sales and service contacts.

“A lot of planning went into the structure of this workshop,” says IIABNY President & CEO Richard A. Poppa, CAE, AAI. “Too often, overall business improvement is overlooked in favor of quick fixes. This workshop will give participants the chance to shape their agency’s future by improving effectiveness and enhancing profits.”

“In this workshop, it’s more than industry experts,” says Jeff Yates, ACT executive director. “You’re hearing from innovators, successful agents, carriers, and vendors who know how to thrive in the industry. They know how to improve business, because they’ve all done it themselves. They know what works and are eager to share that knowledge with participants.”

The Big “I” Convention will feature nationally recognized speakers, such as “America’s Mayor,” Rudy Giuliani, who revitalized New York City during his tenure (1993-2001) and inspired his city—and the nation—to come together and move forward in the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

The convention also features insightful continuing-education workshops, numerous networking events and the largest trade show in the insurance industry.

Online registration for the Big “I” Convention is also available at the web site, www.independentagent.com. For more information about the Big “I” Convention, contact the Convention and Meetings Department at (800) 221-7917.
