Richard Faber
Richard Faber, CPCU is the owner Co-Founder of Underwriter's Resource, LLC, which is the premier source for commercial insurance expertise. Underwriter's Resource accomplished this goal through direct consulting, developing customized continuing education curriculum, and coaching. It is Richard's passion to share the knowledge, expertise, and wisdom he acquired over the 4 decades working in the commercial property-casualty insurance industry. Richard is a frequent content contributor, speaker, and instructor for the Institutes, the Insurance Journal Academy, and other insurance industry forums focusing on teaching pragmatic fundamentals.
After graduating from Cleveland State University in 1980 with a degree in Marketing and Economics, Richard began his insurance career as an underwriter trainee with USF&G.
Enough of the 3rd party eulogy talk! I'm still alive and here's what I am about. I have been in commercial underwriting for 4 decades, in a variety of roles including underwriting specialist, underwriting consultant, and underwriting manager. I ran the western USA underwriting operations at Mitsui Sumitomo for 6 years. I've always said I am the world's greatest underwriter. Attaining my CPCU designation in 2013, I officially claimed the title.
Over my career, I've seen risks handled well for the benefit of all parties, but too often I've seen us fail our clients. Quite bluntly, we are losing focus on doing the very best for our insureds. In 2018, I co-founded Underwriter's Resource, LLC with my wife Sharon, a career independent agent, focusing recovering those fundamental skills the industry has lost. I am an approved Continuing Education instructor in several western states creating unique curriculums to bring some of those skills back.
In addition, I am a frequent online and in person speaker presenter for the CPCU Society and the Insurance Journal Academy. I published articles for a variety of online insurance industry sites including the CPCU Society's Insights, Insurance Nerds.
